Dr. Laya Joneydi is Manager & Partner of Joneydi & Associates Law Office (JAALO) which has been founded by her in 1999. JAALO is specialized in different fields of international trade law and specifically in arbitration and dispute resolution. Laya Joneydi has acted as President of the Tribunal, Co-Arbitrator, Sole Arbitrator, Independent Expert or counsel to a party, in several domestic and international arbitrations, both ad hoc and institutional. Laya Joneydi is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Tehran (the oldest and most reputable university of Iran). She is author of tens of articles and several reference books including Applicable Law in International Commercial Arbitration, Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards & A Critical and Comparative Study on International Commercial Arbitration Act of Iran She has a first degree license and is authorized to appear before all courts of Iran up to highest level. She is also a member of International Affairs Commission of Iranian Central Bar Association, Private Law Association and Association for Women Studies. She has acted as Director General of Legal Department of University of Tehran and Laws and Regulations Department of Iran Ministry of Sciences and Technology for six years. Joneydi has received her LLB, LLM and PhD from University of Tehran and done a Post-Doctorate Research Program at Harvard Law School. She is fluent in Persian and English and has a working knowledge of Arabic and French. Joneydi has extensive experience with Corporate & Commercial law, joint ventures and other forms of domestic and foreign investments. She is also a leading expert in arbitration and has acted as President of the Tribunal, Co-Arbitrator, Sole Arbitrator, Independent Expert or counsel to a party, in several domestic and international arbitrations, both ad hoc and institutional.
